What Is Zoom Whitening?
Zoom in-office whitening is the perfect choice for those seeking immediate results. The safe and effective cosmetic dentistry procedure involves the use of the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp to activate a hydrogen peroxide whitening gel, accelerating the whitening process. As the gel breaks down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin layers, breaking down the stains while leaving the tooth structure unchanged.
What Can You Expect During Treatment?
We may recommend a professional cleaning before treatment for the best results. Your whitening process starts by covering your lips and gums for protection, then applying the whitening gel to your tooth surfaces, where it will remain for 15 minutes. We will use the Zoom light to enhance the whitening process. Treatment times can vary from person to person. However, most people require three 15-minute gel applications with light activation for a total of 45 minutes. Including the set-up time required, your appointment time should last around 90 minutes, and you will walk away with a smile that is noticeably brighter.
What Is At-Home Whitening?
If you would prefer whitening your teeth at home, there are many options, including whitening strips, powders, gels, and do-it-yourself kits. While some of these products offer some whitening results, they can’t compare to professional whitening. To put things in perspective, Crest Whitestrips have an active ingredient concentration of 6-10% compared to our professional whitening gels, which come with an active ingredient of up to 35%.
For the best and safest at-home whitening results, we are pleased to offer custom kits tailored to your smile’s unique needs. These come with professional-grade hydrogen peroxide gel and custom bleaching trays created from digital scans of your teeth. You’ll place a small amount of bleaching gel in your trays and wear them over your teeth per our directions. It may take up to a week or two to achieve your desired results.
Are You a Candidate for Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is effective for most of our patients. In general, teeth with yellowish staining from dark foods or drinks (coffee, red wine, and berries) or tobacco use produce impressive results. However, teeth with brownish or grayish stains from medication or trauma may not respond well to treatment.
